Staff a Japanese craft table at OACC’s Lunar New Year festival? – 2/4

Writer's picture: SecretarySecretary

Would you be interested in staffing a Japanese craft table at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC)’s Lunar New Year festival?

The OACC is giving JETAANC a great opportunity to share Japanese culture with a wide range of community members of all ages. Ideally, we’d run an activity related to Japan: making origami or paper dolls, running a janken-pon contest, etc. Less fun and interactive, but still fine would be to make a display of Japanese culture. It’s a great chance to build our visibility, continue the mission of the JET Program, and be involved in one of the biggest events in the East Bay Asian community.

Date: Saturday, Feb. 4 Time: 11am – 4pm (doing a shift within this is fine, too!) Festival website: http://bit.ly/wdBvGh

I went last year, and we had fun making Japanese paper dolls with some students who staffed that table. The table was very popular. The tables are outside the auditorium doors and so a lot of people stop by. The OACC has Japanese paper doll making supplies if we want to do that, but we can also come up with our own idea.

I’d like to let OACC know ASAP, so let me know if you are interested ASAP!

Thank you!
